Leavenworth County, Kansas

Leavenworth County is located in northeast Kansas. It is named for Henry Leavenworth, founder of Fort Leavenworth.
The seat and largest city are both Leavenworth. The county also includes the large military instillation of Fort Leavenworth.

The county borders Wyandotte, Johnson, Douglas, Jefferson and Atchison Counties in Kansas, as well as Platte County in Missouri.
Main highways through the county include US-73, K-5, K-7, K-92 and K-192.
